Job Description:
We’re looking for an experienced bioinformaticist to join our Research team. Come join us!

What you’ll do:

In this role you will have the opportunity to provide bioinformatics support to our research team: bringing in external data sets and annotations, developing tools for managing these resources, and integrating them with 23andMe data and analysis results. This is a generalist position that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our dynamic research efforts. The successful candidate will be a pragmatic, tenacious and versatile individual with an attention to detail, the ability to identify and resolving corner cases, a good working knowledge of concepts, tools and terminology to understand researcher's needs and concerns in terms that are familiar to them, and the ability to move seamlessly between a variety of types of assignments.

What you’ll do:

  • At least two years software development
  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or a related field, or equivalent preferred
  • Strong coding skills: specifically Python, R
  • Conversant with SQL queries, schema development, and query tuning
  • Familiarity with public genomics resources (NCBI, UCSC, 1000 Genomes, ENCODE)
Pluses:
  • C/C++ coding experience may be helpful
  • Knowledge of AWS
