The Reproductive and Genetic Health Bioinformatics Group is focused on developing algorithms in support of Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT). The intern in this role will be assisting with the development of the NIPT bioinformatics pipeline. The intern will be contributing to the optimization of the normalization process and determining how well it performs in the presence of various sources of variation. The role will require the development of normalization quality control metrics as well as the deployment of tools to monitor these metrics over time. Qualifications & Requirements:

Travel accommodations will be provided for those candidates who do not reside in the city where their assessment event is being held. - Must a masters student or PhD student with a minimum 3.2 GPA – both cumulative and within major.
- Preferred/Required Majors: bioinformatics, computational biology, applied mathematics, statistics, or related field.
- Must have strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Must have strong R programming skills and experience with UNIX. Experience with perl/python or other scripting languages is also desirable.
- Must have completed coursework in statistics. Computer Science is also recommended
- Experience with genomic analysis of sequencing data
- Experience with machine learning, classification, and other supervised learning techniques
- Experience with clustering and dimensionality reduction techniques (PCA, MDS, etc).
