Job Description:
Our client, the nation's only company exclusively insuring the jewelry industry is hiring for a Data Scientist!

The Data Scientist will work with the Actuarial, Product, Underwriting, Digital, Marketing, Media and Technology teams to develop in-depth research that reveals key insights that drive the strategic direction of our corporate initiatives. This position will be responsible for solving important business problems through data mining and statistical analysis while providing insights to guide optimization and execution. The Data Scientist will provide analytical leadership around improving the customer experience through our various platforms and customer touchpoints.

Analytical and critical thinker with a high attention to detail and an ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-technical audience

Demonstrated experience solving business problems using advanced analytics

Strong statistical skills covering techniques such as multivariate analysis, generalized linear and nonlinear modeling, logistic, machine learning, text mining and NLP

Confident in data wrangling to create research datasets and execute predictive models

Solid understanding of statistical and data tools such as MS Excel, SQL, Tableau, R, SAS, Python, and any open source application

Participates in strategic thinking regarding the design of analytic roadmaps

Comfortable leading from conceptual design to implementation

Familiarity with the intersection of Big data environments and analytics such as data lake construction, Hadoop applications, cloud deployment, MS Azure, and miscellaneous open source applications that enhance data and analytic integration

Education/Computer Skills/Experience:

  • Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, bioinformatics, etc.) with an emphasis on predictive modeling.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in an analytical role. No actuarial exams required.
Property/casualty insurance background and jewelry industry experience are helpful.
