Job Description:
To expand the development and commercialization of our innovative computational breeding solutions, we are looking for an ambitious: Data Scientist Quantitative Genetics in a plant biotech research environment

Vacancy number 18.009

Position:

As a Quantitative Geneticist you will strengthen our team of Computational Breeding Solutions, which is part of the Bioinformatics & Modeling Department. With your background in statistical methods used in traditional and genomic evaluation and in genome-wide association analysis, you will contribute to the application of these technologies in the commercial improvement of crops and traits. You will also provide expert advice in population design and field trial implementation for genomic evaluations. A very important part of the position involves working with a team of geneticists, mathematicians and software developers on the development of a highly innovative breeding simulation and decision support platform.

Your profile:

  • PhD in Quantitative Genetics, Breeding or related field, preferably with experience in plant breeding
  • Strong background in statistics and machine learning
  • Experience in the analysis of field trial data, linkage analysis, GWAS and Genomic Selection
  • Knowledge of polyploid crop genetics is a pre
  • Excellent programming skills, preferably in R, C++ or Python
  • Strong ambition to contribute to highly innovative breeding solutions
  • An enthusiastic and customer-oriented team player with solid communication skills
