Job Description:
Supports scientific projects under the supervision of a Lead Informatics Specialist or a designated senior level Informatics Specialist. Develops scripts or software applications to support data management, data extraction and data analysis as required. Is knowledgeable in the handling and in the design of repository systems to contribute to the development of internal databases. Has basic expertise in the informatics methods used to analyze data. Contributes to the design of analytical procedures and executes analytical procedures in the framework of a specific project. Contributes to the interpretation of data analysis and writing of reports. The Informatics Specialist may be exposed to a variety of bioinformatics methods and data types (e.g., analysis and workflow development for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data including RNA, DNA, miRNA, methylation, microbiome, and ChiPSeq) or clinical informatics (e.g., Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Big Data concepts applied to electronic medical records), supporting both the research and clinical informatics needs of Mayo Clinic.
