Job Description:
The Vertex Summer Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the best and brightest in the industry. The modeling and informatics (M&I) group at Vertex Pharmaceuticals is searching for a highly motivated and talented intern. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with a multidisciplinary team and help develop and maintain informatics tools. Specific tasks include:

- Write python code for pipeline automation.

- Perform bioinformatics tasks (including sequence based analysis and annotations).

- Develop and test machine learning models .

Minimum Qualifications:

- Candidate must be currently enrolled in, or recently completed degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related field.

- Experience in handling protein sequence and small molecule data.

- Computer programming skills, such as Python is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with other programming languages like Java & R, and experience with machine learning packages is highly desirable
