Job Description:
As an operations and project manager within Pathology, this individual will provide oversight on various IT projects within the department to provide full stack software development and informatics solutions. Act as a liaison between department and clinical staff to identify workflow improvements and present IT solutions. Direct manager for front line IT staff and analysts. Assist in functions related to operational IT support.

  • Supervises direct reports (tech support and analyst roles) to ensure workload is completed efficiently and effective. Demonstrates role model behavior.
  • Works with leadership to assess pathology technology needs and opportunities.
  • Liaise with other institutional informatics groups.
  • Reviews, monitors and forecasts workflow and makes procedural recommendations to improve efficiency and staff performance.
  • Respond to changes and to best meet workload and user needs.
  • Monitors if direct reports are meeting performance expectations within their own job responsibilities using position profiles.
  • Monitors and counsels staff on employee attendance, punctuality, and performance problems.
  • Design, develop and implement software tools and applications.
  • Systematic approach with analytical, reasoning, and problem solving skills to develop and modify internal software as well as installing software
  • Design and develop software and database as part of informatics data storage, visualization, processing, and analysis systems.
  • Design and implement features (algorithms, data structures, database access, visualization, user interface) and add modifications to existing applications.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to team and pathology faculty.
  • Mange and lead development of status monitoring and data management systems.
  • Manage improvements to the central laboratory system including development of new functions and integration with other software systems.
  • Manage and automate data delivery via multiple channels.
  • Manage archiving of large data sets.
  • Supports management to maintain uptime for all production systems.
  • Completes and liaises with hospital security and MSK compliance regarding Pathology information systems
  • Oversight of system QA processes.
  • Create policies, support and QA procedures for production turnover process after new implementations
  • Creates a cooperative working environment, motivates representatives throughout all related areas to meet departmental goals and objectives and pursues ideas for improving Pathology Informatics supported experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required computer science, mathematics, or bioinformatics 4-7 years
  • Master’s Degree Preferred 2-4 years
