Job Description:
The Phenomic Data Analyst primary accountability is to leverage Geisinger data assets to improve quality, efficiency and generate knowledge specifically in the field of health research. Phenomic Data Analysts use data expertise, programing abilities, and critical thinking skills to solve complex issues as well as identify new and innovative uses and transformations of available data.

Phenomic Data Analysts support Research activities by performing and supervising various complex data Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) and reporting using Business Intelligence(BI) and analytical tools and programming languages. In order to ensure data quality, the role looks beyond the surface layer of available data to effectively identify potential sources of error and omission. The role utilizes multiple sophisticated methods and develops novel methods to extract, analyze and report clinical data for research and contributes to national publications.

This position reports to the Director, Phenomic Analytics and Clinical Data Core to identify, develop, and execute solutions related to the Phenomics Initiative to enhance patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, research and operational efficiency. This position will also be responsible for assisting in complex phenotype algorithm development.

Advanced programming skills (SQL, SAS) are a must have! Data visualization and interpretation skills, database development skills (Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata, Hadoop) ETL Skills (SSIS,python) , BI Skills (Tablau, SSRS, crystal reports) and the ability to program and build large data repositories are required too.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, statistics or closely related field required

Minimum three years of experience in SQL programming, ETL and BI operations is required, with at least one of those years in health care data is preferred.

OR

Master’s degree in informatics, bioinformatics, information systems, computer science, statistics or closely related field required.

Minimum of one year experience with health care or genomic data required. In lieu of one year full time experience, internship and project work can be recognized.
