Job Description:
We are currently looking for a computational biologist to reinforce our global bioinformatics team as a Research Scientist. In the context of cancer and gene target discovery, the post-doctoral position will focus on the development of integrative analysis with multiple sources of OMICS data to identify new candidates. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated experience in handling large-scale genomics, transcriptomic, proteomic data and databases, a strong biostatistics background and a good knowledge of cancer biology. We need someone who approaches their work with a passion, is able to work independently with a strong team spirit in a multidisciplinary environment and across our sites, and would dive right into develop new analysis approaches for contributing to the gene target discovery for cancer treatment. Contract: 1 year, supported by a grant from Charles River Laboratories. Qualifications: -PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics or similar discipline (or foreign equivalent degree) is required. -Relevant experience or skills in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics. -Proficiency in the integrative analysis of heterogeneous molecular data (including Next-Generation Sequencing), combining data from external biological and/or medical databases, and meta-analysis methods including functional class enrichment and pathway analysis. -Experience in developing and deploying bioinformatics software, including the packaging and the writing of technical/user documentations, is essential. -Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Perl, R/Bioconductor) and shell scripting in Unix/Linux environments. -Knowledge in the application of machine learning methods in computational biology will be a plus. -Knowledge in using data visualization and analytics software (e.g. TIBCO Spotfire) will be a plus. -Experience in cancer research and previous mentioned topics will be a plus. -Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English (German or French in addition will be appreciated). -Proven problem-solving skills, collaborative nature and adaptability across disciplines. -A team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, critical thinking aptitudes. -Strong communication skills and experience working with virtual teams. -Ability to travel as needed to different Charles River sites.
