Job Description:
We have an opening for a postoc in Bioinformatics / Systems Biology of Host-Pathogen Interactions. The position is part of the KoInfekt research program (https://www.uni-greifswald.de/forschung/forschungsprofil/forschungsprojekte/landesexzellenzinitiative/koinfekt/), funded by the Excellence Initiative Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The successful applicant will employ bioinformatics methods to characterize viral and bacterial coinfections, based on experimental data provided by our project partners at the University of Greifswald, University Hospital Greifswald, and the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute for Infection Research at Riems.

The position is available immediately, with a fixed term contract until December 2020, with the option of further prolongation. Salary is according to the German E13 scale (full position).

Qualifications:

We are looking for an applicant with a solid background in applied Bioinformatics / Computational Systems Biology and related fields. Candidates are expected to be willing to closely collaborate with the experimental groups involved in KoInfekt; prior experience in analyzing high-throughput (OMICs) data is an advantage. Areas of interest for KoInfekt include mathematical modeling of host-pathogen interactions, systems biology / network bioinformatics, machine learning applied to high-throughput data, and network reconstruction from experimental data.
