Job Description:
The Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. This position is based in Dr. Stephan Schurer's laboratory which functions as an interdisciplinary team. The Postdoctoral Associate will interact with project team members at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology, the CCS, and other University of Miami faculty and research staff. Will also interact with researchers from the LINCS, BD2K, and IDG networks. Specifically, the duties and responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, integrating, modeling, analyzing, and visualizing diverse heterogeneous datasets; developing computational models of drug mechanisms of action; developing and implementing data standards; developing and implementing data processing pipelines; using knowledge of modeling/ontology engineering in the areas of biology and chemistry; and developing key features, UI elements, documentation, testing, and application of novel software tools.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Cheminformatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related field of study. Prefer multidisciplinary experience in chemistry or biology working with informatics with computational expertise. Specifically, prefer hands-on experience with a variety of bioinformatics and cheminformatics resources and tools, including, but not limited to, databases such as PubChem, ChEMBL, GEO, TCGA, ENCODE, CMap, biological pathway systems (KEGG, BioCyc, Reactome, PID, etc.), and various methodologies and software tools including molecular dynamics, docking, pharmacophore, QSAR, chemical fingerprints, statistical data analysis, gene set enrichment analysis, and network modeling. Knowledge of biomedical ontologies and experience in knowledge modeling, description logic, and general ontology engineering principles, Protege software, and ontology languages is preferred.
