Job Description:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. This position will perform scientific research in an academic environment in a laboratory that focuses on understanding mechanisms underlying mucosal dysfunction and microbiome dysbiosis during HIV infection, cancer, and infectious diseases. The Postdoctoral Associate will develop novel therapeutic interventions to treat diseases. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Associate may ensure the design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research and/or development in collaboration with a research team; investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products; maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories; and contribute to scientific literature and conferences.

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows:

Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral level degree with a background in microbiome, immunology, microbiology, virology, cell biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a closely related field. Prefer experience in multi-color flow cytometry, including FACS analysis and interpretation and/or in microbiome sequencing and analysis. Advanced training in PCR, high throughput sequencing, ELISA, cell culture, and tissue processing. Also prefer experience in mucosal immunology and non-human primate or human mucosal tissue processing and research.
