Job Description:
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kathleen Pratt (https://www.usuhs.edu/content/kathleen-p-pratt-phd ) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, MD. Motivated individuals with a recent PhD in immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or a related field, or with an MD, are encouraged to apply. Experience in subcloning, expressing and purifying proteins from various expression systems and/or or a background in immunoprofiling of T and B cells from humans or mouse models, are considered a strong plus. The position is funded for 3+ years and will be filled at the postdoctoral fellow or research associate level, depending on qualifications. This research project will expand our novel approaches to induce immune tolerance to a therapeutic protein drug, coagulation factor VIII. Techniques will include tissue culture, flow cytometry, ELISPOT/Fluorospot assays, TCR repertoire profiling (including single-cell methods), RNASeq and transcriptomics analysis, molecular biology and protein chemistry. Our goal is to understand the mechanisms governing making and breaking of peripheral tolerance to protein therapeutics, and to translate research results to improve clinical outcomes for patients.

Our research projects take advantage of recently established Core facilities for Nextgen sequencing and Bioinformatics analysis.
