Job Description:
Description: The positions will examine the interaction between metabolism and epigenetic in renal and prostate carcinogenesis. Currently, we are studying the role of a putative oncometabolite we have identified in renal cancer. We are currently exploring the role of this molecule in three contexts : 1) role in tumor initiation/development/ progression, 2) role in epigenetic alterations through DNA/histone marks, and 3) metabolic liabilities that can be explored therapeutically. In addition, a major focus of our lab is on the transcriptional control of kidney cancer metabolism. These studies are focused on how alterations in transcriptional regulators impact tumor metabolism and tumor progression/metastasis. Studies in the laboratory utilize a combination of in vitro, in vivo, and genetic models. In addition, access to extensive bioinformatics data derived from patient samples is available to facilitate validation and hypotheses generation.

Our laboratory has an established track record in the field of kidney cancer and metabolism as demonstrated by our recent publications in well-respected journals (Cancer Discov. , J Biol Chem, Mol Cell, Oncogene, PLoS One, Mol Cell Biol. ) The laboratory is currently funded by multiple federally funded grants including funding from the NIH.

Qualifications: Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree is required. The candidate must be well-motivated with a strong background in cell/molecular biology and metabolism. Training in methodologies including chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and bioinformatics is preferred, but not required. Candidates need to demonstrate independence and the ability to communicate.
