Job Description:

  • Lead the continued development of a software tool that enables the ordering and tracking of the Institute’s key precision medicine test offered to patients
  • Elicit functional requirements from end users, stakeholders, and other staff within Informatics
  • Understand lab processes, roles of different users within the system, and the data that must be communicated between users and other applications
  • Become proficient in downstream interacting system (Clarity LIMS), including assessing possible integration of systems in the future
  • Support the expansion of Dana-Farber’s growing set of molecular tests, including immunoprofiling and germline testing
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements.
  • Adhere to agile product development methodologies.
  • Motivate team members for success and give recognition for results
  • Communicate status on various project/program efforts to Informatics leadership, Project Sponsor, Business Owner, and internal stakeholders, and manage expectations.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss team and project/program related activities, issues, changes, and communications, as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field required
  • 1 year of software product management, software development, or related technical expertise required
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements
  • 1 year of experience analyzing data using SQL, Python, or Perl, and understanding of database design
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Understanding of software development and ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer support
  • Ability to effectively translate complex business requirements to functional requirements
  • Exceptional problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and conduct small meetings, both formal and informal
  • Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels both internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to cooperatively and effectively work within a team
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

-Experience with lab processes a plus
