Job Description:
The Taylor research group in CHOP's Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics (DBHI) is hiring for a postdoctoral position in computational biology and single-cell analysis. This position will have the opportunity to work with members of the group in method development and analysis of single-cell data and other massively parallel data projects in eukaryotic and prokaryotic systems. This research will be performed in an interdisciplinary environment in collaboration between CHOP-based faculty from the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers faculty, led by Dr. Deanne Taylor.

The desired candidate must have a terminal degree (PhD) with a focus in quantitative and computational science.

The candidate will help lead the development of single-cell pipelines and methods at CHOP and take part in research in larger international projects.

Job Responsibilities:

It is expected that this individual will conduct independent scholarly research, and will contribute directly to the overall translational research goals of the project and the research group. Postdocs will be expected to participate in project planning, recording and interpretation/evaluation of data, and communication of results. The successful candidate is also expected to demonstrate basic scientific knowledge of biology of cells and molecules.

Postdocs will also be expected to acquire technical and manuscript/grant writing skills; and participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and travel for presentations at national and international meetings.

Postdoctoral fellows also may be required to develop new methods and protocols for research, and assist with the development of other research projects in the lab.

Postdoctoral fellows at CHOP receive mentored translational science and bioinformatics training in a rich scientific environment that includes both CHOP and University of Pennsylvania research communities, as well as exposure to several large multi-institutional collaborations. Postdoctoral fellows training in DBHI will serve to extend, refine and enhance skills necessary for professional and career development in translational bioinformatics research, and will enable the individual to broaden his/her scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities.

Required Education And Experience:

  • A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.
  • According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic:
  • PhD in relevant fields for computational biology, such as computational sciences, biophysics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, genomics/genetics, biology, or other quantitative fields.
Additional Technical Requirements:
