Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to biomarker discovery and diagnostic development for rucaparib and other Clovis programs. The analysis of preclinical, clinical and public genomics data to support biomarker discovery and development is integral to this position. She/he will design, build and implement a database to connect clinical study, genomics and metadata, and go on to query, analyze and interpret genomic and clinical study data using statistically sound methodologies. The successful candidate will need to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams. With a strong computational background, the Research Associate II will work effectively with Translational Medicine, Clinical Operations, Translational Medicine Operations, Clinical Development, and Regulatory functions to assist with the implementation of biomarker strategies within clinical studies.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Molecular Diagnostics, the Research Associate II will be responsible for supporting biomarker discovery and diagnostic development efforts across programs.

The key tasks will initially include (at least) the following:

  • Analyze genomic profiling data to support clinical studies and biomarker strategies
  • Design, build and maintain a database with clinical study and genomic data
  • Assist with data management pertaining to translational research of biospecimens
  • Assist in management of academic collaborations to support exploratory biomarker analyses
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in principles and practice of analysis and in major statistical computing packages and languages; fluency with R, Perl/Python in a Linux environment is essential
  • Expertise in data base design and implementation, experience with schemaless data bases preferred
  • Experience with basic NGS and bioinformatics methods, software and analysis systems
  • Excellent understanding of molecular biology and cell biology
  • Familiarity with genetic testing and cancer genomics
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative science and work that will directly impact cancer patients
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to focus on details and multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience:
  • A BS or MS in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, genomics, or related field
  • 2-5 years of research experience in cancer genetics/genomics is required, preferably in the biotechnology/diagnostics industry
Working Conditions:

This is an office based position. Minimal travel may be required.
