Job Description:
The Primate Genomics Research Associate will help oversee daily maintenance of the new Primate Genomics Lab at GWU . The Research Associate will help develop and test lab methodologies. The position requires the ability to do PCR amplifications, nucleic acid isolation’s and quantification’s, and gel electrophoresis. The position also requires some experience with bioinformatic analysis of genomic data sets.

Minimum Qualifications:
MA/MS in biology, biological anthropology, or related field is required and 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications:
Must have experience with genetics bench work including DNA extractions, PCR , gel electrophoresis, and bioinformatics.

Job Duties

Function:
Manage and curates lab reagents, and biological samples.

Develops and tests protocols involving RNA / DNA isolation and amplification

Statistical analysis of data.

Helps oversee student research in the lab.

Writes up results of experiments and present results to other researchers.

Function:
Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
