Job Description:
We are currently seeking a talented and curious Bioinformatics Scientist to support the genomic work of Cancer Exploratory at Agios. The Scientist position is responsible for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Microarray data analysis and reporting, analytical pipeline and database development to mine public databases. This individual would be providing Bioinformatics and Genomics support from study design, to data acquisition from vendors/collaborators, to data analysis and communication of results to various project teams and groups. The candidate is expected to drive new target & patient stratification ID, translate Bioinformatics analysis results into decisions in experimental steps and program directions.

Key Responsibilities:

-Responsible for analyzing Agios & public (TCGA, COSMIC, ICGC, etc) Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and microarray (GEO, ArrayExpress) data, and be a key contributor to the identification of novel cancer targets and patient selection strategies.

-Performing NGS study design, data processing, storage and analysis, including building analysis pipelines and databases and web portals for result retrieval and visual/graphic display.

-Performing pathway and network analysis to understand disease mechanisms and identify molecular signatures of Agios interests.

-Collaborating with different project teams and providing genomic support.

-Conducting scientific presentations for internal/external audiences.

Minimum Requirements:

-Ph.D. in Biology, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field, with at least 3 years of hands-on working experience on genetic/genomic data analysis and method development, preferably in Oncology.

-Strong ability to translate Bioinformatics analysis results into new Biological insights, experimental verification proposals, and program decisions.

-Experienced, and proficient with processing and analysis of next-generation

sequencing (NGS) and microarray platforms (expression, methylation, and SNP arrays).

-Familiar with TCGA (including Firehose) & ICGC data structure and result interpretation. Hands on working experience with other public genomic data sources (CCLE, COSMIC, CDT2, etc).

-Strong hands-on programing skills, especially in R/Bioconductor. Other scripting tools or languages such as Matlab, Python and/or Perl, Java and databases (Oracle, MySQL) is a plus.

-Hands-on experience on data visualization tools (Spotfire, Google Charts, R-Shiny,etc).

-Experience with pathway and systems biology analyses.

-Good communication and presentation skills.
