The Senior Data Scientist develops, implements, and monitors advanced analytic, medical informatics, and predictive modeling tools for health care programs. Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with health plan and health system staff
- Converse with and provides guidance on the selection and use of modeling software and programs.
- Coordinates informatics activities to facilitate reporting and take advantage of health system information and technology.
- Defines methodologies for reporting and evaluates software requirements needed to support analytic reporting.
- Design, develop, and implement health care analytic and biomedical modeling programs.
- Identifies and implements education and training program to address needs of health plan employees relative to health care informatics and modeling.
- Identifies business owners with health care informatics needs and work with them to define reports and reporting schedule.
- Identifies staffing needs to enhance modeling and reporting abilities and participates in recruitment
- Implements plans for capturing and creating new data elements, working with Health Plan CIO and information services staff.
- Makes recommendations of reporting, based upon industry standards and competitor knowledge
- Monitors and oversee reporting process to assure business owner needs are met
- Serves as a consultant to insure coordination in systems planning, development and implementation between utilization management and other areas needing reporting, development, information systems, and external organizations.
- Advanced degree in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Economics; Decision Science, Health Services Research or related field. Ph.D. (highly preferred) or Master of Science Degree with at least five years of modeling and program design experience.
- Minimum of five years experience in the development, implementation and oversight of models related to health services research and medical information programs, or related work experience required.
- Knowledge of statistical and reporting methodologies.
- Strong planning and analytic design skills
- Expertise in working with health insurance claims databases. Ability to work with advanced data analytic software and models.
- Ability to design programs to analyze complicated scenarios.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
