Reporting to the Head of APIs and Microservices, the Senior Software Architect – Back End, will help design and develop software solutions to complex analytical problems spanning all divisions of Sanofi. The role’s primariy responsibility will be to architect the APIs and Microservices at Sanofi in a rapid application development environment. The role will engage across a variety of health and life science problem areas including computational biology, population health, behavioral economics, commercial analytics, and others. Senior Software Architects are expected to be well-versed in good software engineering methodologies and committed to working with a diverse set of scientists and domain experts across traditional disciplinary boundaries. Key responsibilities:
- Work with data owners, researchers, and other domain experts to
- build APIs to data sources internal to Sanofi
- Ensure that the FAIR principles – data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable – are realized through the API and Microservices strategy
- Work with internal and external developers to ensure the APIs are easy to use and understand, fostering collaboration and novel use cases that impact the business
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and improve API engineering projects
- Work with other developers (internal and external) as an ambassador and evangelist of the Sanofi API and Microservies strategy
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Work with stakeholders to understand the implications (computational, timeline, and cost) of cloud-based development projects.
- Help shape the company-wide software architecture culture across Sanofi.
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 10+ Years experience developing data intensive software in an industrial/life sciences setting
- Strong analyitical, problem-solving and communication skills
- “Full stack” developer skills – able to work with a variety of computer languages (Java, SQL, Pyhton, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of API/WebServices architecture and experience delivering APIs to internal and external stakeholders
- Proven leadership of high-performing cross-functional global teams in matrixed organizations
- Deep understanding of life sciences data and data analytics
- Ability to quickly build Minimum Viable Products based on self-directed discussions with business stakeholders
- Experience with building “app stores”
- Ability to work with external partners and lead partnerships
- Ability to articulate and lead extended teams along long-term capability development roadmap, and to multi-task in a deadline-intensive environment
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, change management and consulting skills
- Strong change leadership, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
- Ability to travel globally
