Clarivate Analytics (US) LLC / Senior Research Scientist :

1. Responsible for the delivery and scientific strategy of bioinformatics projects related to molecular biology, disease biology, drug development and related disciplines;

2. Provide bioinformatics consultations to clients, recommend technology-based solutions and determine computational strategies based on the clients’ large molecular datasets and research needs;

3. Communicate research results through bioinformatics project reports, including introduction, results, discussion, conclusions and recommendations for further research; communicate results through scientific publications;

4. Analyze genomic, gene expression, proteomic, metabolomic and other large molecular datasets using biostatistics and bioinformatics techniques and knowledge on pathways and processes involved in cancer and other diseases: apoptosis, cell cycle, metabolism, inflammation, adhesion, and others;

5. Develop new software applications and customize existing algorithms to specific scientific project needs;

6. Manage scientific collaborations with research institutions in the field of drug target identification and repositioning, with a focus in immunology and oncology areas;

7. Identify drug targets using molecular network algorithms based on information from publicly accessible and proprietary databases and its integration using machine learning techniques; create target dossiers for already known targets;

8. Design and apply algorithms to perform drug repositioning analyses using cheminformatics, bioinformatics and literature mining approaches;

9. Identify molecular biomarkers (e.g. mutations, gene expression, and others) for cancer and other diseases using bioinformatics analysis of large molecular datasets.

Position Requirements:

Ph.D in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Photochemical Sciences or a related discipline followed by three years of experience in bioinformatics or computational biology in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or consulting setting.

Experience must include the following, which may be gained concurrently:

1) 2 years of experience in statistical programming languages (including R), scripting languages (including Perl and Python) and database query languages (including SQL);

2) 2 years of experience in functional analysis and biomarker identification from microarray data (including identification of differentially expressed genes, enrichment analysis, WGCNA, GSEA, clustering);

3) 2 years of machine learning analysis of high-dimensional data (including PLS, random forests, elastic net, and neural networks);

4) 2 years of experience in cheminformatics including metabolic rules, QSAR models, in silico toxicology/DMPK, docking, and structure analysis (including Swiss PDB viewer and Swiss-Model);

5) 2 years of experience working with clinical trial data and clinical ontologies;

6) 2 years of experience in target identification and repositioning using molecular network algorithms (including overconnectivity, causal reasoning, and network propagation);

7) 2 years of experience in cancer biology and inflammation and immunology therapeutic areas;

8) 2 years of experience with scientific workflow systems (including KNIME and Pipeline Pilot);

9) 2 years of experience with OMICs data warehouses (including tranSMART).
