The Bioinformatics Specialist will contribute to the laboratory's research on tuberculosis, with the long-term goal of developing new strategies to improve control of the disease. The part-time Bioinformatics Specialist will execute quantitative comparisons of the STRING database and the EMBL complex portal. Will model the parametrization and search of the STRING, such that it reports EMBL-like results (i.e. makes expert-like decisions) when queried. Working closely with a team of molecular biologists, biochemists and behavior specialists, the Bioinformatics Specialist will collaborate and analyze data for those producing RNA and DNA sequencing data. Will perform sequence alignment, differential expression for RNA-seq, peak search for epigenomic data, pathway analysis, and various statistical analysis, potentially also combining with publically available human data both genomic and genetic.
