We’re looking for a coordinator to join the Data Coordination and Archiving Team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) located at the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK. In this role you will be leading our efforts in large-scale data management of vertebrate genomics data generated from funded projects and managing internal submissions data processes across the Institute. Responsibilities will include leadership of the data management activities for several international consortia including the 1000 Genomes Project and the follow-on and expanded activities of the International Genome Sample Resource (ISGR). Other data management roles focus on functional genomics data e.g. International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC) as well as the HipSci, EBiSC and FAANG projects. Each of these projects has dedicated staff who will be managed by the coordinator. We are looking for experienced bioinformaticians to join the Open Targets team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) located at the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK. Open Targets is a recently established public-private initiative between the EBI, GlaxoSmithKline, Biogen and the Sanger Institute to combine large-scale genomic experiments with objective statistical and computational techniques to identify and validate the causal links between targets, pathways and diseases. We have two vacancies for experienced bioinformaticians working on large-scale biological data analysis and integration for target identification and prioritisation within the core Open Targets team. You will join the Open Targets team developing the data processing and database infrastructure to provide the cord deliver of the centre, a genome-wide database of target validity (https://www.targetvalidation.org).  [More]

The successful candidate will develop and apply strategies for the integrative analysis of pan-cancer and tumor type-specific genome data (e.g. from whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing, RNA sequencing), enabling the identification and prioritization of biologically relevant cancer mutations, which will be further characterized functionally. These analyses will give us insights into the function of unknown genetic variants, and will highlight new drug targets and repurposing opportunities. [More]
