Job Title:        Postdoctoral Fellow to study viral evolution and broadly neutralizing antibody responses in HIV infection  Salary Plan:   NIH and institutional funding Lab:    Allen               Direct Supervisor: Todd Allen Employing Hospital and Department:        Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard Minimum degree and field of knowledge: PhD, MD Years experience required:  0 – 2 years experience Summary: The Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard located in Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA has an opening in the Allen laboratory (http://www.ragoninstitute.org/portfolio-item/allen-lab/) for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to study the role of HIV sequence evolution in the development of broadly neutralizing antibodies. This position requires a Ph.D. or an M.D. with a background in humoral immunity, evolutionary biology, and/or bioinformatics. Research will focus on elucidating the role that viral evolution and escape from humoral immune responses plays in the development and maturation of broadly neutralizing antibodies to HIV. Efforts will include application of next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies to address these questions and development of advanced comparative genomic tools for the analysis of large viral genomic NGS datasets. Goals are to understand the role of HIV sequence evolution in the development of broadly neutralizing antibodies and apply this knowledge to design the effective components of an HIV vaccine. State-of-the-art facilities are available within an exceptionally energetic research setting. Job Duties: Under the direction of the principal investigator the applicant independently carries out daily activities of the laboratory. Performs molecular biology and cell-based assays utilizing standard techniques (DNA/RNA extraction and analysis, standard and quantitative PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, neutralization assays, ELISAs) Next-generation Illumina library construction and sequencing Bioinformatic analysis of conventional bulk and next-generation sequence data Develop advanced comparative genomic tools for the analysis of large viral genomic NGS datasets Detailed documentation of the experimental work  [More]

Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Molecular Pathology The Gynaecological Oncology Research Group within the Centre for Cancer Research aims to better target treatment to individual patients through understanding the molecular drivers of treatment response in ovarian cancer. With researchers forming an integral part of the multidisciplinary team caring for women with gynaecological cancers at Westmead Hospital, research conducted by the group is well-positioned to be quickly translated into new tests and treatments that are of direct benefit to patients. The group is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the field of Molecular Pathology to provide molecular and genomic expertise to a new Translational Research Program. The position will be part of a collaborative team working to integrate genomic pathology into the multidisciplinary team based model of care for ovarian cancer. This is a full-time position on a 3 year contract. Major Responsibilities: Developing clinical quality accredited molecular assays. Mutation variant reporting and analysis of other somatic alterations that contribute to ovarian cancer pathogenesis and response to treatment, including gene copy number and gene expression variations, within a team environment. Integration of analysis methods and interpretation of data from a range of molecular assay platforms. Implementation of bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of molecular data. Working with collaborators within the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research and Pathology West to implement new molecular assays into routine clinical practice within the health care system. Contribute to the research activities of the Gynaecological Oncology Research Group as directed by the Head. Collect and coordinate data requirements for research projects, grant applications and publications as directed by the Head of the Gynaecological Oncology Research Group.
